Cooking class at the Hanamaki Agricultural High School. The students made our lunch - little “burgers” of fish, bamboo shoots, carrots, onions, umeboshi plums, and tufo, and a soup with veggies and little millet/flour dumpling thingies.
End of the Deer Dance. These kids are my heroes for having so much energy and talent, and performing for us in those heavy costumes in nearly 100-degree heat and then staying in costume to talk to us and take pictures.

Posted pictures from the first four days of the Japan trip, still working on organizing the rest. Also still trying to unpack my room, since I moved pretty much the day before we left and have pretty much just been trying to sleep since we’ve been back.
